While visiting the Bohemain Paradise, we walked and hiked about 8 km worth of beauty. Our first stop were Trosky (two towers) – the strange ruins of what was once a Gothic castle, founded at the end of the 14th century by the family of Vartenberk.
Next we visited Hruba Skala chateau, which is now a hotel.
Lastly, we checked out the remains of Valdštejn, considered to be the oldest castle in the Bohemian Paradise. It was established approximately around 1260.
This area is known for its sandstone rocks and there are numerous finding places of agates, amethysts, jaspers, chalcedonies and other kinds of precious stones in the volcanic rocks.
My Czech friend and her boyfriend joined us for this trip; they were our great tour guides.
